Home/Services/POTS Line Replacement
POTS line replacementBefore the copper goes dark.
Carriers are retiring copper analog lines, and the prices on the ones that remain keep climbing. Elevators, alarm panels, fax machines, gates and call boxes still need a dial tone. We replace those lines and keep the devices working.
A POTS line is a plain copper telephone line. Many buildings still have a dozen of them, often billed at rates that make no sense anymore, and many are tied to life-safety equipment.
What we replace
- Elevator emergency phone lines (see emergency call systems)
- Fire and burglar alarm communicator lines
- Fax lines and modems
- Gate, door and parking call boxes
- ATM, point-of-sale and hallway emergency phones
How we do it
We inventory every analog line in the building, identify what each one serves, and move them to monitored service that works with the existing equipment. Where a building has no usable internet, a single cellular connection can carry up to 48 analog lines.
Alarm and fire panel requirements vary by jurisdiction and monitoring company. We coordinate with your alarm provider before any line is moved.
